Accommodations

The beautiful Mount Madonna Center, where we will come together for this retreat, is located in the Monterey Bay area of California.

The Center is located in the middle of 355 acres of mountain-top redwood forests, open meadows, and grassland. Situated so that you can see the Santa Cruz mountains stretch out all around you, the Center is a place of meditation and calm. We've chosen this location for our retreat because it offers so much more than a place to talk and to understand: it is a place of peace and of joy.

Mount Madonna Center serves delicious vegetarian meals in cafeteria style service. At each meal, you will have a range of choices, including non-dairy and gluten-free options.  As the Center offers only vegetarian meals, they provide dairy proteins (e.g., cottage cheese, hard cheeses), soy proteins (such as tofu or tempe), nut products, or beans/rice at every meal.

Mount Madonna offers a variety of shared accommodations (no single accommodations available). Because it may be a new experience to share a guest room, we use information provided in your registration such as sleep patterns to make sure you are comfortably housed during the retreat.  Mount Madonna Center does not provide phones, TVs or connected private baths in guest rooms, but does provide free WiFi access for guests.

Double Room – Hotel-style or house-like buildings with shared (but private while in use) bathrooms and showers. LIMITED AVAILABILITY

Double in Cabin – Clustered in a forest grove, each Double Cabin room has two single beds, bedside lamp, closets and fully heated and lighted, with electrical outlets as well but no indoor plumbing. A separate new shower house with private showers and dressing rooms, and clean, well-ventilated private toilets are located by the clustered cabins, just a few steps away.

3-4 Person Rooms --  Rooms with 3 or 4 single beds.  Located in hotel-style or house-like buildings with shared (but private while in use) bathrooms and showers.

7 Person Rooms --  Located in a house-like building with shared (but private while in use) bathrooms and showers. Each person has a twin bed, bedside table and lamp (no bunk beds).

Dorm (14 people) – Located in a house-like building with shared (but private while in use) bathrooms and showers. Each person has a twin bed, bedside table and lamp (no bunk beds). This space is available to quiet sleepers only.

Tents – Provided by the Center, the tents are set up with a foam mattress, but no bedding (bring your own). A separate shower house with private shower and dressing rooms, and clean, well-ventilated privies are nearby. Tents are an option for those who want single housing.

Van/RV – There are a few spaces for you to bring your own Van or RV, and these include access to electrical hookups but not water hookups. You will have access to bathroom facilities in adjacent buildings.
